MASTER KEY SYSTEM MANAGEMENT

REKEYING

An older existing key system may be out of date with the current needs and requirements of your facility. As times change and your business or campus grows your needs change, and your key system should, too.  Here are a few examples when rekeying your system may be necessary:

Corporate structures or chain of commands evolve
New aspects and ventures of business develop while others are phased out
New policies or procedures or laws are put into place
Departmental functions shift
The use or function of certain areas or buildings have changed
Security and safety measures are heightened

PATENTED & RESTRICTED

If your key system is no longer patented or restricted, you may also consider a rekey. In this situation, having good records of key distribution and assignment, and knowing exactly which keys grant access to which areas, isn't very effective. If members of your staff can go to a local locksmith or hardware store and have keys duplicated, you have no way of knowing who really has access to you facility (and just because your keys say something along the lines of "Duplication Prohibited" does not mean they can't be duplicated. If the keys are not patented and/or restricted, that's more of a polite request than a legal restriction).  So, while you may know who on your staff carries which authorized keys that you've issued to them, you don't know who possess unauthorized keys that have been duplicated--within or outside of your organization.

MANAGEMENT & MAINTENANCE

Maintaining your Master Key System is vital to its effectiveness, efficiency, and security. With little or no records of which personnel have been assigned which keys, and which keys grant access to certain areas, it can be impossible to manage operational risks and security assessments. This can range from "harmless" situations, such as the use of your ROI (return on investment) products i.e cleaning products, to more drastic safety measures; knowing whether a lock-down procedure really achieves an ultimate level of security.

If a key or lock is damaged, contact the ENRICO team as soon as possible. Our goal as a local authorized keying center, is to meet your security requirements promptly and efficiently.
